Constitutional Amendments Ballot Results

Dear colleagues,

The Governance Committee along with the MRSA Executive Board want to give a big shout out of appreciation to all of our members who cast a ballot in the Constitution Amendments vote.
You did it! We reached over the 50% of members casting a ballot for a valid vote and you can see by the results included below that the mandate is now clear.

Turnout: 437 (60.1%) of 727 electors voted in this ballot.

Amendment #1
Add the following definition of Quorum to the definition section of the MRSA Constitution: 
Quorum: The minimum number of voting members who must be present (in person or virtually), at properly called meetings to conduct business, including motions to vote.

Candidates for the position of President must have served a minimum of one (1) year on the Executive. Candidates for the positions of Vice President(s) and Treasurer are recommended to have served a minimum of one (1) year as a representative on the Executive or have relevant experience.

Amend Constitution Article 22.01 to read: 
The Constitution may be added to, repealed or amended at any time provided that notice of the proposed amendments is given to the membership. A Special General Meeting shall be called with at least ten (10) days prior notice to vote and provided that such a notice contains the proposed amendment or amendments. Quorum shall consist of no less than fifty (50) voting members, not including Executive members. In order to pass, at least 75% of the ballots cast must be in support of the amendments.
