I’m Hina Arshad, and I joined the Mount Royal Staff Association Executive as a Director-at-Large following the midterm election in November 2025. I joined Mount Royal University in November 2023 as the Child Development Lab Coordinator in the Department of Child Studies and Social Work.
I have been a member of the MRSA Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA) Committee since 2023, which has informed my approach to governance, advocacy, and collective responsibility. As a Director-at-Large, I am focused on learning MRSA’s operational and governance processes and supporting staff awareness of rights, responsibilities, and collective agreements. I value transparency, collaboration, and listening to staff voices, and I approach this work through a holistic lens that recognizes the interconnectedness of staff well-being, workplace culture, and institutional practice.
I also serve on the board of the Calgary Reggio Network Association, which keeps me connected to the early learning field and allows me to share knowledge across sectors. Working with both children and adults has strengthened my commitment to inclusive, connected communities.
Outside of work and board commitments, I enjoy spending time in nature and capturing moments through my camera, refining my art of noticing.
