Do you have concerns about the health and safety of your workspace?

Hello colleagues,

Your employee representatives on the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee (JOHSC) are reaching out to let you know we are here to help.

JOHSC is an advisory committee to the President’s Executive Committee (PEC) and is mandated by Alberta Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) legislation. JOHSC brings together representatives from all levels of the University to discuss and address health and safety-related concerns at MRU.

JOHSC allows workers to participate in occupational health and safety and supports your three basic rights as employees:

  • The right to know
  • The right to participate
  • The right to refuse dangerous work

Additional information on the MRU JOHSC can be found in the Terms of Reference.

We hope you will save these posters on your desktop. One poster illustrates the responsibilities and processes in place for OH&S issues; the other notes your 2021-22 Employee Representatives.

We’re here to help you. Contact us if you…

  • have any questions or concerns about your occupational health & safety.
  • have any questions about the OH&S legislation and your rights and protections.
  • wish to file a complaint about health conditions, COVID masking, slip & fall dangers, physical hazards, or psychological hazards.
  • have questions about a complaint you previously filed.

Here is the injury/incident form we ask everyone to use when filing a complaint or concern.
